Fun channels gameplay on Discord

On Discord, the Fun channels module polices the game channels on its own, so your members can have fun without adding work for the moderation team.

The goal is to count as high as possible together, without making a mistake.

  • Numbers only: every message sent in this channel must start with the next number in the sequence (for example if the last number was 14, the next message must be 15).
  • No self-replies: a user cannot post two numbers in a row. They have to wait for another member to post the next number.

If a player posts the wrong number, plain text, or tries to double-post:

  • Kotbo instantly deletes the offending message.
  • The bot may add a warning reaction.
  • The current score is either kept or reset depending on your settings (if reset, players have to start again from 1).

The community collaborates on an endless story by writing one word at a time.

  • One word per message: messages containing spaces, complex punctuation or several words are not allowed.
  • No consecutive turns: you cannot post two words in a row. Another player has to add a word before you can write again.
  • Any message with more than one word, or posted consecutively by the same author, is deleted automatically by the bot within a second.
  • The story reads smoothly from top to bottom in the channel.

Kotbo generates a secret number in the background, and players have to guess it by posting values in the channel.

  1. Players post numbers in the channel (for example 42).
  2. Kotbo checks the guess and replies publicly:
    • “Higher!” (if the mystery number is greater).
    • “Lower!” (if the mystery number is smaller).
  3. Players adjust their next guesses accordingly.
  4. As soon as a member hits the exact number:
    • The bot announces the win and mentions the winner.
    • The round ends, and a new mystery number is generated automatically (or manually by staff from the dashboard).

Kotbo posts a string of emojis in the channel, and members guess the phrase behind it.

  1. The bot publishes the riddle in the channel: New riddle! What phrase is hiding behind … It posts it again when the channel is first set, whenever the channel changes, after a reset from the dashboard, and after every correct answer.
  2. Players guess by simply writing in the channel.
  3. A wrong guess costs nothing: no message is deleted, the channel guesses freely.
  4. The right answer gets the bot’s reaction, a mention of the winner, the expected solution, and then the next riddle right away.

Every word must start with the last letter of the previous one.

  1. One word per message and nothing else: punctuation, digits or whole sentences are ignored by the game.
  2. The same member cannot play twice in a row.
  3. Accents do not count when comparing, words with ligatures (cœur, œuvre) are accepted, and a word cannot end with a hyphen.
  • Wrong letter, or a second turn in a row: the bot says so and, if punitive mode is on, the chain restarts from zero. Otherwise the offending message is set aside without breaking the progress.

The channel bans two words, and nothing else.

  1. Any message containing the French words “oui” or “non” is deleted at once.
  2. The bot reminds the author of the rule, then deletes its own warning a few seconds later to keep the channel clear.

Only emojis are allowed in the channel.

  1. Any message containing anything but emojis is deleted.
  2. Server emojis, skin tones, flags and keycap digits are all accepted.
